Focus and Scope

Aims & scope

Didáctica Geográfica focuses on improving the teaching of Geography through the publication of both theoretical and applied research in the field.

Structure

The journal has the following sections:

1. Presentation, written by the issue’s coordinator.

2. Approved papers in their original language (Spanish, English, French or Portuguese).

3. Extended summary of the papers in English (for papers published in Spanish); and in Spanish for papers published in English, French or Portuguese (until 2020)

4. There will also be a section with news. We will include both reports about relevant activities that have already taken place, and announcements about forthcoming events.

5. Selected book reviews about new publications in the field.

Originality

Didáctica Geográfica publishes original research papers that have not been published before and are not in the process of evaluation or publication in any other journal or publication.

Language

Papers can be submitted in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese.

Peer Review Process

All authors will receive an acknowledgment of receipt via e-mail after the submission of their paper has been registered in the OJS platform.

Didáctica Geográfica’s first selection round is carried out by the issue coordinator and the Chief Editor. All the submitted articles that fullfil the submission guidelines and scientific quality standards will proceed to the second round: a double-blind external peer review. The paper will be sent to two external reviewers, specialists in the field of the journal. If the two reviewers do not agree in their assessment, the paper will be sent to a third expert. Papers will also be reviewed by two members of the editorial board.

The review form used by the reviewers is published here .

The editorial team will make an effort to implement an expedient and efficient review process. The issue coordinator will communicate to the authors the acceptance or decline of the submission in a maximum period of four months.

Once a decision has been reached by the evaluators, the issue coordinator will communicate the decision to the author(s) in a justified manner. The decision could be:

  1. Accept submission:

-- accept submission

-- minor revisions required

-- major revisions required

  1. Decline Submission

The editorial team will ensure that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process.

Articles submitted to other sections of the journal will be reviewed by the Chief Editor. These texts will not undergo a blind peer-review process. The justified decision will be notified to the authors and changes might be demanded before publication.

Publication frequency

Didáctica Geográfica publishes one issue digitally per year in January (in December until 2022). Articles for the next issue can be submitted through our OJS platform until May 31. Publication on paper ceased on 2019.
